The Industry Alliance Office - representing the Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam (NCA) - offers scientific expertise and facilities to the industry as a dedicated front-office. The state-of-the-art infrastructures, required for this endeavor is made available by the VU University Medical Center and by the science faculties of the VU University Amsterdam.
The Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam was founded in 2008. It was installed as a modern research network organization where patients, medical professionals, scientists, students and external partners assemble to create a ‘hub’ in the neuroscience community. Currently, NCA employs more than 500 coworkers and publishes more than 500 research reports per year, of which many in high impact journals.
The NCA conducts research regarding brain function and brain-disease mechanisms through an integrative approach where clinical expertise and scientific knowledge is bundled. The annual research budget is more than 50 M€, of which more than 50% is acquired in conditional research funding from outside the campus.
